Arising

‘Arising’ means to come into being, to spring up, to shoot up. It is both an act, and a choice. To arise is to come up above everything that seeks to hold you down and decide in your heart that you will believe the word of God above everything else.

To arise also means to soar, very much like an eagle. An eagle soars at a high altitude, higher than most birds of the air. The eagle rules the sky, and there is much we can learn from the eagle. How he lives, what he eats and his lifestyle. As such, to arise always very much involves a choice: a choice to live as how God intends for us to live so that we may soar the heights He longs for us to soar.

We believe that this is the season where the children of God must arise to our God given positions. But we also must understand that to fully inhabit that position, our relationship with the fathers (heavenly, spiritual, biological and workplace fathers) in our lives must be fully restored. Through that restoration, we will truly understand how precious we are to God. At times, we could struggle to relate to God as a Father but I believe the time has come where God wants to change all that.

Arising the song, was given by God after a prophetic prayer made by our spiritual father, Ps Henry K Pillai on 24 June 2018 where he prayed for all those 35 years and below. In that monumental prayer, he reminded us that he loves us, that God has a plan for us and asked us to come up, to rise up and to arise. He reminded us that he is our father, and that we are his children. He encouraged us that God will fulfil the dreams He has for us. He spoke over us encouraging words of a father that we are beautiful, we are precious, we are blessed and that God loves us. That prayer really changed everything for us, and this song was given by God to prophetically declare into the atmosphere about many walls coming down all around us. This song was first introduced at the 2018 Grace Klang Women Conference, whose theme was also ‘Arise’.

As we begin to arise, may we experience the fullness of all God has for us. And mostly, to arise to our positions as children of Grace Ministry, and as children of God.

DI ATAS SEGALANYA & KAU TUHAN PENEBUSKU

Sekitar Jun 1997...kami dibenarkan menghadapi satu situasi kehidupan yang sangat sulit di dalam keluarga kami. Saya merupakan anak sulung daripada 7 orang adik beradik dan hanya saya seorang yang bekerja masa itu di Syarikat Rightway seksyen 27 Shah Alam. Pada waktu yang sama, 2 orang adik saya sedang menuntut di UITM Shah Alam dan di UM Kuala Lumpur. Saya mendapat panggilan telefon dari adik saya yang menuntut di UITM, di mana dia sedang berada di hospital UM.

Saya berjumpa dengan doctor pakar yang mengatakan bahawa adik saya menghidap penyakit Aphlastic Anemia….dan dia perkira hanya boleh hidup 6 bulan sahaja. Semuanya bermula di sini…kerana saya menyedari saya tiada siapa siapa ..saya tidak punya apa apa untuk menanggung kos perubatan dalam RM 10, 000 tunai pada masa itu. Kerana tanpa tunai atau jaminan, prosedur perubatan tak boleh dimulakan dan dilakukan. Hanya saya sedar kepada siapa saya berharap..dalam kekosongan, saya hanya mampu datang kepada Tuhan saja. Dalam tempoh 6 bulan itu, setiap hari saya akan ke hospital, dan dalam waktu ini saya tiada membawa apa apa…kecuali sudah berjumpa dengan Tuhan di setiap kesempatan yang ada. Saya sudah kehilangan kata kata doa..di dalam kehilangan kata kata, tiba tiba keluar lagu dari mulut saya..berulang ulang…

Puji Tuhan akhirnya, adik saya disembuhkan sepenuhnya. Lagu itu melekat di hati saya..Kaulah Tuhan. Apabila doctor mengisytiharkan kesembuhan adik saya, roh dan jiwa saya meluap luap bersukacita terhadap Tuhan. Saya sedar dengan banyak mukjizat yang Dia nyatakan termasuk kos perubatan. Walaupun dengan tulisan tangan saya menulis kepada Pengarah Yayasan Sabah, mereka membayar sepenuhnya kos perubatan adik saya. Dari situ saya tahu bahawa.. Yesus di atas segalanya..Dia Penyembuh. Akhirnya adik saya berjaya menghabiskan kuliahnya di UITM.

Sejak itu, banyak lagu yang keluar dari mulut ini kerana kebesaranNya dan berkira untuk membuat satu album tetapi kerana berapa masalah yang tak dapat dilalui, maka saya simpan lagu lagu saya. Saya bersyukur kepada Tuhan kerana dipertemukan dengan hambaNya, Sheela yang mana beliau sedang membuat projek pembikinan album Arising, …..sesuailah seperti Pengkhotbah katakan.. SEGALA SESUATU ADA WAKTUNYA..

我怎么能没有你 (HOW CAN I LIVE WITHOUT YOU)

2019年5月1日这一天,我收到了本团的负责人李秀萍传道的信息，信息里说到集圆你们写一首歌给你们的父亲节呈现,但我看到这句话的时候我吓了一跳,因为5月份我们所有的成员都在预备年中考,我心想怎么可能写得出来，我们都不得空。在同一时间我马上打电话给李秀萍传道告诉他说我们不可能写得出来一首新歌,因为时间不长,我们全部都在预备年中考,根本没有时间写出一首新歌给父亲节的程现，但是传道却告诉我们说:你们试试看写出来（尽力）不能也没关系。
(On May 1, 2019, Ps Fiona (Lee Sew Peng) contacted me to write a song for the Father’s Day celebration in church. When I received the call, I was surprised as we were all preparing for examinations. In my heart, I thought that it was impossible to write down because we were busy preparing for our exams. So I contacted Ps Fiona again and told her we were not able to write the song. But Ps Fiona asked us to try our best.)
(Pada 1 Mei 2019, Ps Fiona (Lee Sew Peng) menghubungi saya untuk menulis lagu untuk perayaan Hari Bapa di gereja. Apabila saya menerima panggilan, saya terkejut kerana kami semua bersiap untuk peperiksaan. Di dalam hati saya, saya ingat adalah mustahil untuk menulis lagu kerana kami sibuk bersedia untuk peperiksaan. Jadi saya menghubungi Ps Fiona sekali lagi dan memberitahu bahawa kami tidak dapat menulis lagu itu. Tetapi Ps Fiona meminta kami untuk cuba.)

过了一天，我打电话给本团其中一位的青少年黄佳欣姐妹以及黄祥和弟兄，我告诉他这个计划，起初他们也是觉得我们哪里有时间写出来，几乎是不可能的事，他们就提议说:要不然我们就不要自己想，我们改编他人的歌曲，他们提议说我们可以改编《父亲》这首歌。突然,我告诉他们既然传道叫我们尝试，我们就尝试看看写出一首歌，假如真的无法写出来我们就改编他人的歌曲，他们也就同意了。
(The next day, I contacted Joycelyn Ng and her brother Justin Ng to let them know about this song. They too, thought it was impossible to write this song. At first, we thought of presenting an existing song and we agreed to proceed with this plan.)
(Keesokan harinya, saya menghubungi Joycelyn Ng dan saudaranya, Justin Ng untuk memberitahu mereka tentang hal ini. Mereka juga fikir ia mustahil untuk menulis lagu ini. Pada mulanya, kami memikirkan untuk membentangkan lagu yang sedia ada dan kami bersetuju menggunakan rancangan ini.)

过了一个礼拜,当我从教会回到家里的时候,我就在想到底怎么才写得出一首歌,我就上网搜寻如何创作一首歌,我看完后我还是无法的写出来我就自己尝试用钢琴把音符一个一个找出来但是还是失败了。我躺在床上静静的思考。突然间，我想起来圣经告诉我们说在人不能，在神凡事都能，在神没有难成的事，我靠着那加给我力量的凡事都能做，我就尝试的想神来到祷告，我向神说:亲爱的天父上帝,求你来帮助我，让我有从你而来的旋律，写出这首歌，来荣耀你的圣名，恳求你来帮助我，谢谢你，祷告侍奉靠主耶稣得胜的名求阿门。我就做一个简单的祷告。过了5分钟，我突然哼出了一段旋律那就是E E E E D C# A 。。。。。。这个时候我马上把所哼出来的歌透过钢琴把音符写下来和把它用手机录下来，传送给黄佳欣姐妹让他帮我编曲和把曲改好一点。过了差不多一个礼拜这首歌的曲就写好了。
(After a week, on my way back from church, I was still thinking how to write a song. I even went to the Internet to find out how to compose a new song. After that, I tried to write but I was still unable to. As I was lying on my bed, thinking about it, these scripture verses came to me: ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible’ and ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’. After receiving these verses, I got up from my bed and started praying, asking God to help me with this song. “Heavenly Father, I ask you to help me and give me the melody for a new song. I want to write this song to glorify Your Name. Please help me. Thank you. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen. After 5 minutes, I started humming a melody line of ‘E E E E D C# A. I then wrote the music and recorded the melody. Subsequently, I forwarded the melody to Joycelyn to enhance the music.)
(Selepas seminggu, dalam perjalanan pulang dari gereja, saya masih berfikir cara untuk menulis lagu. Saya juga pergi ke Internet untuk mengetahui cara menyusun lagu baru. Selepas itu, saya cuba menulis tetapi saya masih tidak dapat. Ketika saya berbaring di tempat tidur saya, memikirkannya, ayat-ayat suci ini datang kepada saya: 'Bagi manusia hal ini tidak mungkin, tetapi bagi Tuhan segala sesuatu mungkin' dan 'Saya dapat melakukan segala kehendak Tuhan dengan pertolongan Kristus, yang memberi saya kekuatan dan kuasa.’ Selepas menerima ayat-ayat ini, saya bangun dari katil saya dan mula berdoa, meminta Tuhan untuk membantu saya dengan lagu ini. "Tuhan, saya meminta anda membantu saya dan memberikan saya lagu untuk lagu baru. Saya mahu menulis lagu ini untuk memuliakan Nama Anda. Tolong saya. Terima kasih. Dalam nama Yesus, Amen. Selepas 5 minit, saya mula menyanyi lagu melodi 'E E E E D C # A ..’ Saya kemudian menulis muzik dan merakamkan melodi. Seterusnya, saya meminta pertolongan dari Jocelyn.)

2019年5月18日我召集了本团自创组的成员黄佳欣姐妹刘静甜姐妹黄祥和弟兄来到教会一起讨论歌词,起初我们完全没有任何一丁点的头绪,李秀萍传道认为不妥,他就建议我们从圣经经文来写歌词,过了半个小时，我们依然写不出任何的歌词,我们再一次的同心合一的向神来祷告。不久后,神感动我们说使用神的属性来填歌词。在半个小时内我们成功填出了歌词。同时也把这首歌定名为《我怎么能没有祢How Can I Live Without You》
(On May 18, 2019, we all gathered together to work on the lyrics of the song. After completing the lyrics however, Ps Fiona suggested that we should have biblical references in the song. After 30 minutes, we couldn’t find suitable words, so we started praying together. Then God impressed upon our hearts to write down the lyrics based on God’s character. We then finished the song in 30 minutes and titled the song, How Can I Live Without You.)
(Pada 18 Mei 2019, kita semua berkumpul untuk menyiapkan lirik lagu. Selepas melengkapkan liriknya, Ps Fiona mencadangkan agar kita mempunyai rujukan al-kitab untuk lagu itu. Selepas 30 minit, kami tidak dapat mencari perkataan yang sesuai, jadi kami mula berdoa bersama-sama. Tuhan memberi inspirasi supaya menulis lagu berdasarkan karektor Tuhan. Kami kemudian menyiapkan lagu dalam 30 minit dan bertajuk lagu, Bagaimana Saya Boleh Hidup Tanpa Anda.)

MY ELOHIM GOD (HANNAH’S PRAYER)

On the 9th of March 2015, I was in Israel and we went up to a place called Shiloh. It’s a beautiful place, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Up in the mountains in Shiloh, I noticed a wall erected with the words ‘Chana’s Prayer’. Curious, I read the words on the wall and saw that it’s the prayer that Chana (or Hannah, the prophet Samuel’s mother) made in 1 Samuel 2, when God had given her a breakthrough, when God had given her Samuel.

Hannah is the most unique character, in my opinion. She is only mentioned briefly in the bible, in the beginnings of 1 Samuel but here is a woman who altered the prophetic destiny of the kingdom of Israel. But her beginnings were a humble one. All she longed for was for a child. She bore the constant taunting of Penninah, her rival who had children whilst she had none. One day, the taunting was too much for her to bear that she went up to the temple. There, she got her miracle. To Hannah, more than the promise of Samuel, it meant that the constant taunting could stop. It meant that Hannah’s reputation as a woman would be redeemed as back in her day, to have been barren meant that you were cursed. The birth of Samuel meant that God was for her, that God has always been for her.

In May 2017, the Lord asked me to write a song based on the prayer Hannah made in 1 Samuel 2, after she received her miracle. After finishing parts of the song, I left it until months later when the Holy Spirit nudged me to finish it. I waited on God in the prayer room, and three days later, the song was finished. It was then that the Lord reminded me to check the date. It was 9th of March, 2018: exactly three years to the day I went up to Shiloh and took a picture beside the wall of Chana’s Prayer.

This is one of my most personal songs to date as very much like Hannah in the bible, this song was birthed after one of the most difficult seasons of my life. At the end of that season, just like Hannah, I received not only a miracle; but something even more precious than that: it is the experience of encountering God in the secret place where it’s only you and God. Of having the deep understanding of one of His names etched in your heart forever: and that His name is Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts: the One who fights for you.

The release of this song in this album is something very precious to me as the song was done by a group of people who are very special to my heart: the young people of Grace Youth. They have truly made the song alive in ways that only they can. It was and still is a treasure to hear the song come alive as they worked on verse after verse and rifts after rifts. Their dedication to make this song sound as wonderful as possible reflect the spirit of excellence they carry as they serve in various areas in the church and in all that they do in their lives. It is truly a fragrant offering unto the Lord. My prayer for you as you listen to this song, is for you to encounter the God they know: Elohim God.

PARIGARI/HEALER

I’ve had a burden since 2010 to write this song, after I met an accident on 23rd October 2010. I broke both my arms and legs. It took me almost 1 ½ years to recover. During the days when I was bedridden, I always had this thought of singing my testimony as a song to describe how God healed me physically and spiritually. God also changed my mindsets and thinking throughout this journey.

As time went by, I committed myself more in the worship ministry and started off a gospel band in 2016 (J_neticz – Jesus Genetics). God had earlier promised me that He will bring the people from various denominations together, and worship in unity. I believe that holiness and unity will release an incense of worship that God truly seeks. And hence, I began my journey towards completing this song.

I really want to appreciate my brother, Isaac Ervin who has always pushed and motivated me to write this song. Two years back, the both of us finally sat down to write this song. During this process, we faced a lot of challenges but we persevered. And finally, this song is released. We also spent a lot of time in prayer and tears over this song and I pray it will be a seed of joy in the lives of every listener. I truly pray that God will minister to you through this song. At the end of the day, we are simply vessels whom God used to release this song, but God is ultimately the only One who is able to touch and mold our hearts as well as heal every wound.

I also would like to thank my band members, family and friends who came alongside me on this journey.

Pada 23 Oktober 2010, saya terlibat dalam kemalangan dan akibatnya, kedua dua kaki dan tangan saya patah. Saya mengambil masa 1 ½ tahun untuk pulih dan dalam tempoh itu, saya ada hasrat untuk menulis satu lagu sebagai kesaksian saya…bagaimana Tuhan menyembuhkan saya. Pada tahun 2016, saya dan rakan rakan saya memulakan kumpulan muzik Kristian, J_neticz (Jesus Genetics). Saya amat menghargai saudara saya, Isaac Ervin yang sentiasa mengalakkan saya untuk menulis lagu ini. Dua tahun yang lalu, kami mula menulis lagu ini dan akhirnya, kami sudah menyiapkan lagu ini. Kami berharap agar setiap pendengar akan merasakan urapan Roh Kudus semasa mendengar lagu ini. ADONAI ELOHIM

Genesis 9: 14-15: Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you...

These are two very powerful names of God. I believe in the power that comes from declaring the names of God over situations in our life where we need a breakthrough. This song was birthed in the prayer room during a season when I was waiting for a promise of God to be manifested. As I played the piano, I decided to cast my cares aside and just praise God for who He is. The song starts out with the words, ‘My Father, My Father’ and then moving on to ‘My Jesus, My Saviour’. As I came to the verse about the Holy Spirit, I remember pausing at the piano, thinking for the right word from my heart to describe the Holy Spirit. For me, that was the season where the Holy Spirit became a very close and personal Friend to me. Truly, a friend, a true friend can be hard to find. One who walks with you through the valleys, the low seasons, the saddest moments and rejoices with you exuberantly when you reach the mountain. Someone faithful. The Holy Spirit was all of that for me. He still is. The only apt word I could think of was ‘My Friend, my Friend!’. My Friend, My Friend. My Friend, My Friend.

I love nature, and one evening, as I was driving, I saw a rainbow in the sky. The Lord often speaks to me through nature, through animals and the birds of the sky as our God is a God who speaks through many different (and creative) ways. The rainbow has a special place in my heart as the beautiful colours of the rainbow always remind me of His power and His ability to fulfil His promises. The next day, the melody of the bridge part of the song came to my heart – about His word and His promises that never fails.

Adonai is the name of God which means ‘Lord, My Master!’. Elohim is the first name of God mentioned in the bible and it means ‘One True God’. May this song and this declaration be your anthem over every area of your lives.

GOD OF RAIN / JIANG XI'A EN YU

Deuteronomy 28:12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. (申命记 28:12 耶和华必为你开天上的府库，按时降雨在你的地上。在你手里所办的一切事上赐福与你。)

The Lord gave me this song in 2014, during a particularly hot and dry season in Malaysia. Many times, in our lives, we go through seasons which are like that: seasons of dryness, seasons where nothing seems to be moving for us, seasons where we don’t see signs of life in the ground. It is almost as though we are in a desert. But, our nation, Malaysia isn’t a desert because it is a rainbow nation. And a rainbow signifies the fulfilment of every one of God’s promises. Perhaps there have been moments when it seems like the breakthrough will never come. But God’s promises always stand.

The rain that comes after a dry season is really a blessing. It’s like having a prayer answered after a long, long time of waiting. It brings the relief and a sense of renewed hope that makes us alive. This song is really a prophetic declaration of a new time and a new beginning in our lives and in our nation. There have been many tears and prayers over these years, from faithful men and women of God from this nation, and I believe that NOW is truly the time the heavens will rain down the answers of those prayers over us. I believe that it is a time where we will experience the glory and the power of God in a new way.

The chorus part is a powerful proclamation of the many names of God, as I believe that in those proclamations, we raise a banner of victory in Jesus’ name!

May this song bring the relief, the release and the miracles you have been waiting for, and for the rain to come over every seed of promise in your live and bring forth a jubilant sound of victory.

Tuhan memberi inspirasi untuk lagu ini pada tahun 2014, ketika satu musim yang sangat panas di Malaysia. Sememangnya, ada ketika dalam hidup kita di mana kita berasa kita hidup di keadaan macam ini. Tetapi, segala janji janji dari Tuhan sentiasa kekal. Hujan yang turun selepas satu musim panas yang panjang, sememangnya satu berkat yang manis dari Tuhan kita. Harapan akan mula lahir di hati kita semula. Sesungguhnya, kita percaya bahawa ini adalah satu musim yang baru di hidup kita, dan di negara kita, Malaysia. Korus lagu ini adalah pengisyitharan pelbagai nama nama Tuhan and semoga lagu ini membawa berkat dari tangan Tuhan kita!

Habakkuk 3:2 Lord, I’ve heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.

Have you been in a season in your life where all hope seems lost? Of perhaps you have been waiting for a manifestation of a promise for so long that you wonder constantly if it will ever happen? Then there comes THAT moment. That moment when God suddenly shows up and does what He says He will do. It’s like every part of you comes alive. It’s like your youth is rejuvenated. You dream again. You hope again. That’s a revival.

This song is based from the scripture verse of Habakkuk 3:2, which is a passionate cry for God to come and do something that He has done in the past.

More than just the revival in our own lives, we also eagerly wait for the promised revival in our churches to impact this nation and beyond. More than just that glorious revival, there is something else I truly pray you will encounter…and that is the cry of the Bridge part of this song: Father, Father. To experience revival, we must go back to the beginning of everything. And at the beginning of all of our stories…is Father God. May we understand and encounter the God who was at the beginning of creation…Father God. I believe in these last days, God is restoring His creation to how it was in the beginning and I believe the upcoming revival will mirror that. May we find our hope restored, our long-awaited dreams made new, and our identities reassured in His Love. May our heart’s cry always be…Father, Father!

Inspirasi lagu ini adalah dari Habakuk 3:2 – Tuhan, telah kudengar kabar tentang Engkau, dan pekerjaan-Mu, ya TUHAN, kutakuti! Hidupkanlah itu dalam lintasan tahun, nyatakanlah itu dalam lintasan tahun: dalam murka ingatlah akan kasih saying!

Sememangnya, kita semua menantikan kebangkitan rohani di gereja gereja kita dan seterusnya di negara kita dan seluruh dunia ini. Untuk mengalami kebangkitan ini dengan sepenuh-penuhnya, kita perlu memahami bahawa di permulaan segalanya…Tuhan bermula sebagai Bapa Kita. Itu adalah detik permulaan dunia ini, dan saya percaya di penghujung zaman ini, Tuhan mahu mengukuhkan lagi identitiNya sebagai Bapa kita. Kita semua dilahirkan sebagai anakNya. Sesungguhnya, apabila kita memahami sepenuhnya identiti kita sebagai anak Tuhan, kita akan mengalami kebangkitan rohani di hidup kita, dan seterusnya gereja kita, negara kita dan di seluruh dunia ini.

When one of our producers, Clement Nathan said to me, “You know, we need a song with 4 languages in this album”, I thought to myself “I’ll never have the time to finish it” as we were already in the midst of production at that time and things were a little hectic to put it mildly. But when something is a will of God, He makes it happen. There was a melody that kept ringing in my head for the past 3 months, and I remember thinking to myself, “Perhaps, this is the song.” As I started working on the song, I also remember thinking to myself, “How simple the words are.” But God reminded me how at the beginning, how at every beginning, things were usually very much simple.

I wrote this song as an expression of thankfulness to God over the many years He has kept watch over our church’s young people ministry. He is Jehovah Nissi, our Banner. Jehovah Rapha, our Healer. Jehovah Tsidkenu, our Righteousness. Jehovah Shammah, who is always with us. And as the song progressed, the words kept getting simpler until it became just one cry: FATHER.

This song ends with a very simple declaration that goes: ‘Engkau Bapaku, Aku AnakMu’…which means, ‘You are my father, I am Your child. I am Your child. You are my father.’ Truly, we are His. We have a Father. We have an identity. We have a destiny. We have an inheritance. We are His children. We have a Father. A Father. And that is something that cannot be taken away from us. No matter our past, our mistakes or what we have done. That identity of being His children will never change. His love for us doesn’t fade. We are His.

The journey of this album ends with that simple yet most profound truth: that He is our Father, and we are His children. After all, when one thinks about it….it was how creation first began. A Father, and His children.

Oh, may that truth of being His child burst forth in your hearts right now, and take root and may your lives be transformed as you understand that you are infinitely loved by our Father God.

Inspirasi lagu ini adalah rasa kesyukuran dalam hati saya atas kesetiaan Tuhan pada anak anak muda gereja Grace Assembly. Sememangnya, Dia adalah Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Tsidkenu and Jehovah Shammah. Tetapi, yang paling berharga…Dia adalah Bapa kita dan kita adalah anakNya. Identiti sebagai anakNya adalah sesuatu yang kekal sepanjang hidup kita, tidak kira apa yang terjadi atau apa yang kita buat. Semoga kita percaya sepenuhnya dalam hati kita bahawa Dia adalah bapa kita, kita anakNya, dan Tuhan amat menyayangi kita.
